			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>CANCER WALK:</strong>  The total amount that was donated from both buildings was $1150.24. This was a great success, and we raised a lot of money for Cancer research. This community and corporation is amazing. The Cancer walk was a huge success and a lot of fun.</p>

<strong>AFTER PROM:</strong>  12-3 a.m. at Farmland Friends Church.  No entry after 12:30 a.m.</p>
<p>Tonight the Winchester<strong> Fellowship of Christian Athletes</strong> <strong>will be having a county-wide END OF YEAR BASH.</strong>  Starting at 6:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m..  The event will have 3 local bands performing along with other activities.  If you are interested in going, please see Matt Thornburg.</p>
<p><strong>SENIOR SPORTS AWARDS SHEETS</strong> need to be turned in by Monday, May 21, to Mrs. Taylor in the main office.</p>
<p><strong>GIRLS VARSITY TRACK:</strong>  Please turn your uniform and warm ups to Mr. Thornburg or Coach Howell ASAP.</p>
<p>Your <strong>Varsity Baseball Bears</strong> lost 7 to 0 to Wapahani last night. These kids have played 4 games this week and won 3 of them I&#8217;m proud of the way we have played we have won 10 of our last 12 games and we are not done yet.</p>
<p>The<strong> baseball team</strong> needs to be at the diamond by 8:45 on Saturday morning.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <strong>Varsity Baseball</strong> Bears played the Winchester Falcons last night at Monroe Central. The Bears won the game 11 to 8 in 7 innings. Jordan Bowmer was the winning pitcher going 5 innings. Braken Barga had a good night at the plate with two doubles and a single, Devin Nott went 2 for 3 with a double, and Kaiser Phillips went 2 for 4. The Bears are 13 and 11 for the season so far tomorrow night we play the Wapahani Raiders here at MC. Please come out and support your baseball team it should be a great game.</p>
<p><strong>CROSS COUNTRY:</strong>  Attention all students in grades 9 through 12 that are interested in running cross country next year. <p><strong>Monroe Central Softball</strong> team beat Muncie Central Wednesday night 13-12. Haley Fields got the victory on the mound and also the save.  The Bears were led in hitting by Kayla Bogue and Destiny Cope, each with 3 hits. Morgan<br />
Engle and Kristin Rodeffer each added 2 hits.  The Bears will host Centerville Thursday night in their final home game, Senior Night at 5pm.</p>
<p>We have the location for the <strong>Boys Track sectional</strong> on our schedules as Muncie Southside. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The<strong> Varsity Baseball Bears</strong> played the Southside Rebels last night at MC and were victorious. We won the game by a score of 12 to 0 in 5 innings. Devin Nott pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts and only 1 walk. All 9 starters had at least 1 hit with Jake Combs having 3 hits. The Bears go to Seton tomorrow night and are back home on Wednesday to play Winchester. We had a good crowd today and hope to have another when we play MC&#8217;s rival Winchester come help your Bears out.</p>
<p><strong>Boys  jr. high track</strong> finished 4<sup>th</sup> in the county track meet last night. 1<sup>st</sup> place finishers; josh randall    hurdles 4x 100 relay team  josh randall, Noah cothrum, Beau combs, Cameron newton. 2<sup>nd</sup> place : cothrum   high jump, 3<sup>rd</sup> place;  combs    hurdles, Newton   100,  shot put Duncan discus, Randall long jump, 4x 400 relay team  Stigleman,cothrum,brincefield,newton. 5<sup>th</sup> place pierce   200, Shafer   800.</p>
<p>The <strong>girl&#8217;s Junior High Track</strong> team finished 2nd in the county meet last night, behind Union City. Lauren Greer was 1st in the 100 M, Katarina Dibiasio 1st in the 200 M, Our 4 by 1 relay team was 1st with Hannah Deffendall, Katarina Dibiasio, Cierra Burford , and Lauren Greer, Our 4 by 4 team was 1st with Bailey Duncan, Abrea Gaddis, Hannah Deffendall, Katilyn Clifford.</p>

<p>Your <strong>Varsity Bear baseball team</strong> defeated Union by a score of 4 to 1 last Friday night. Jay Davis pitched a complete game giving up just 2 hits. Devin Nott had a double and Braken Barga had a triple Jake Combs had two hits for the Bears. This week we have 6 games starting on Monday night at 5:00 here at MC against Muncie Southside if you haven&#8217;t seen your Bears play yet this week we play 5 games at home hope to see you there.</p>

<p>The<strong> jv baseball team</strong> played 4-1/2 good innings on Wednesday night up 8 to 6 in the middle of the 5<sup>th</sup> against Delta, then the wheels fell off as we gave up 8 runs in the bottom of the 5 with 2 outs. This was the best we have hit the ball all year. I feel we are improving every game and that is what we are looking for is to get better for the varsity level. We ended up loosing 17-9.</p>

<p>Last night the<strong> Varsity Baseball Bears</strong> played an MEC game against Randolph Southern here at the MC ball diamond. We won the game by a score of 14 to 3 in 5 innings. Jake Combs got the win on the mound Kyle Parkinson led the team in hits going 3 for 3. Tomorrow night we go to Union to play the Rockets.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">TIME CHANGE:</span>  Jr. High Baseball tryouts</strong> tonight from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the baseball diamond.  Please dress for the occasion.  Everyone <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>MUST have a physical</strong></span> on file to tryout.</p>
<p>Results from the girls track meet last night at Muncie Central.  1st place winners Megen Yates in the long jump.  Betsy Lamb in the shot put and discus. 2nd place 4X1 team of McAllister, Hoening, Kelley &amp; Thompson.  3rd place in the long jump and 100 meter dash was Darion Caldwell.  3rd in the mile and 4th in the 2 mile was Hailey Norris.  McAllister also got 3rd in the 100 hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles.  Mackenzie Norris received 4th in the 800.</p>
<p><strong>Dance Guest Request Forms for Prom</strong> are due no  later than Friday, May 18.</p>
<p>There will be a short<strong> parent meeting for any boy grades 8-11 interested in playing summer basketball</strong> at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14 in the high school cafeteria.  Please see coach Duncan if your parent or guardian cannot attend.</p>

<p>The<strong> girls varsity track team</strong> lost a hard fought battle last evening at the conference track meet where they finished 2nd place out of 9 teams.  Megen Yates was medalist in the high jump.  Hailey Norris was champion 3,200 meter runner with sister McKenzie finishing on her heels.  Hailey also finished 3rd in the 1600 m.  Betsy Lamb finished 2nd in both the shot &amp; discus.  Darion Caldwell finished 5th in 400 &amp; long jump.  Congratulations team!</p>
<p>The <strong>GREENHOUSE</strong> is open to the public everyday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for you to purchase flowers &amp; vegetable plants.  Come see the colorful display of floral &amp; plant items the students have worked so hard on.</p>
<p>Tonight there is a  Monroe Central <strong>FFA chapter meeting</strong> at 7 pm in the ag room. Important banquet information will be given out and officer elections will be held. Pizza will be served. Hope to see you there.</p>
<p>Monroe Central Bears <strong>softball</strong> beat Liberty Christian 11-5.  Kedra Buckmaster got the win for the Bears allowing only 2 hits in her 6 innings of pitching.  The Bears were led in hitting by Katelind Phillips going 5 for 5 with 1-3B, 3-2B, 1-1B.  Kayla Bogue had 3 hits, Kristin Rodeffer,Haley Fields, and Buckmaster each had 2 hits.  The Bears play Thursday at home against Daleville.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>8th Grade ISTEP TESTING</strong> is Tuesday for Math and Wednesday for English/Language Arts.</p>
<p>The<strong> CANCER WALK</strong> is Friday, May 11 on the high school track.</p>
<p>The<strong> jv baseball team</strong> played their best game of the year Friday night at Winchester, only to fall 9 to 8. They scored 6 runs in the bottom of the six to tighten the game up, but left the tying run on 3<sup>rd</sup> in the top of the 7<sup>th</sup>.  They are back in action on Wednesday at Delta.</p>

<div>The Golden Bear<strong> varsity baseball team</strong> won the County Tourney for the first time since 2008. We gave up 3 runs in three games and only had 4 error s total in three games. Our pitching was great this week with Devin Nott, Jay Davis, and Jake Combs doing a great job. Everyone on the Bear team did a great job on both offense and defense. The Bears are playing their best baseball at the right time of year with the sectional coming up in a couple of weeks. The Bears showed class at this tourney and also showed respect for the game of baseball. I would like to thank everyone for their support this week it was great to see all the fans show up. Again thanks from the coaches.</div>

<div>Monroe Central Bears<strong> Softball team</strong> wins the Randolph County Tourney<br />
with victories over Union City 23-4 and Randolph Southern 7-2.  In the<br />
1st game, Monroe Central started slow but finished strong.  Haley<br />
Fields got the victory on the mound for the Bears pitching 3 innings<br />
only allowing 4 hits, with 1 K and 4 runs.  Jessica Daniel came in for<br />
relief in 2 innings allowing no runs.  Offensively the Bears were lead<br />
by Haley Fields and Kristin Rodeffer both with 3 hits.  Katelind<br />
Phillips, Kayla Bogue, Alyssa Retter, and Taylor Wyman each had 2<br />
hits.</div>

<div>The<strong> Junior High girl&#8217;s track</strong> team placed 1st in the Union County Invitational Friday night. Hannah Deffendall was 1st in the 100 Hurdles ,Lauren Greer was 1st in the 100M,  Katarina Dibiasio was 1st in the 200 M, Morgan Haney 1st in High Jump with a personal best of 4&#8217;10, Our 400 relay team was 1st with Hannah Deffendall, Katarina Dibiasio, Cierra Burford, Lauren Greer, Our 800M relay team was 1st with Bailey Duncan, Kinzie Williams, Morgan Haney, Katarina Dibiasio. Katarina was also the MVP medalist.</div>

<div><strong>Boys Jr. High Track</strong> finished 2nd in the Union County invitational last Friday out of six teams.  Josh Randall was 1st in the High Jump, Long Jump and Hurdles where he also broke his own record with a time of 15.6.</div>

<div><strong>Seniors:</strong>  The last day to turn in your baby &amp; Senior pictures for the slideshow is May 9.</div>

<div>The <strong>Chocolate Moose</strong> is looking for a few good men who are able to work 1-3 hours a night.  Duties would include sweeping, mopping &amp; washing dishes.  Must be physically able to push mop &amp; carry heavy mop bucket.  If interested, apply in person Mon., Wed., &amp; Friday this week between 3-5.</div>

You must have a new physical on file every year to play any sport at Monroe Central. Athletes must have a physical on file before attending practices in the Fall.<br />

<div>Current<strong> SOPHOMORES:  </strong>it is time to sign up for the <strong>PSAT</strong>. The test is Wednesday, Oct 17, 2012 (next school year). This test is only $17. The test is good for preparing for the SAT or improving your scores on the SAT. The price of this test can&#8217;t be beat for the information that you will learn about how you will do on the SAT because of the free access to My College Quick Start. Also for taking the test as a junior you are enter in scholarship opportunities. Please see Mrs. Taylor with a check payable to Monroe Central for $17 or  if you are free/reduce lunch please see Mrs. Taylor for a waiver by May 18.</div>
