Tonight the Winchester Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be having a county-wide END OF YEAR BASH.  Starting at 6:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m..  The event will have 3 local bands performing along with other activities.  If you are interested in going, please see Matt Thornburg.

Your Varsity Baseball Bears lost 7 to 0 to Wapahani last night. These kids have played 4 games this week and won 3 of them I’m proud of the way we have played we have won 10 of our last 12 games and we are not done yet.

The baseball team needs to be at the diamond by 8:45 on Saturday morning.

CROSS COUNTRY:  Attention all students in grades 9 through 12 that are interested in running cross country next year. There will be a meeting Monday, May 21 at 6:30 in the library to share information with you for the summer program and our invitational.  Parents are encouraged to attend.

Monroe Central Softball team beat Muncie Central Wednesday night 13-12. Haley Fields got the victory on the mound and also the save.  The Bears were led in hitting by Kayla Bogue and Destiny Cope, each with 3 hits. Morgan
Engle and Kristin Rodeffer each added 2 hits.  The Bears will host Centerville Thursday night in their final home game, Senior Night at 5pm.

We have the location for the Boys Track sectional on our schedules as Muncie Southside. The location for the meet for this year has been changed to Muncie Central. Boys’ Track Sectional Thursday night 5/17/12 at Muncie Central  5:00 Field Events start, 5:30 Running events start

The JV baseball game at Wes-Del on Friday 5/18/12 has been canceled. The JV team will play at Muncie Central on Monday 5/21/12 with the first pitch at 5:00.

Jr. High Baseball practice at the baseball diamond at 7pm on Thursday or immediately after the boys varsity baseball game. Practice to end at 8:30pm.  Per Don Duncan – all players are encourage to attend the game prior to practice as there will be no cost for admission.

Jr High baseball practice for pitchers and catchers only on Saturday morning from 8am to 9:30 in the Bullpen at the boys baseball diamond.

7th graders interested in playing volleyball next year need to pick up information from the athletic table across from Mr. Thornburg’s office about a parent meeting on May 22.

Juniors are you thinking about College Visits this summer, if so the Indiana Private Colleges are hosting a week in July to promote the private colleges of Indiana. If you are interested in visiting any of the 31 private college in Indiana stop by student services for more information.

The After Prom will be held at the Farmland Friends church.  You will need to have your waiver turned into the office to Karen by Friday May 18th, and you must be to the church by 12:30 or you will not be permitted to enter.  Some of the activities planned are Laser Tag, Bungee Run, Henna Tattoos, Karaoke, Green screen with pictures taken, corn hole and more.  Great food and prizes to be given away including some really cool electronic items.

Boys  jr. high track finished 4^th in the county track meet last night. 1^st place finishers; josh randall    hurdles 4x 100 relay team  josh randall, Noah cothrum, Beau combs, Cameron newton. 2^nd place : cothrum   high jump, 3^rd place;  combs    hurdles, Newton   100,  shot put Duncan discus, Randall long jump, 4x 400 relay team  Stigleman,cothrum,brincefield,newton. 5^th place pierce   200, Shafer   800.

The girl’s Junior High Track team finished 2nd in the county meet last night, behind Union City. Lauren Greer was 1st in the 100 M, Katarina Dibiasio 1st in the 200 M, Our 4 by 1 relay team was 1st with Hannah Deffendall, Katarina Dibiasio, Cierra Burford , and Lauren Greer, Our 4 by 4 team was 1st with Bailey Duncan, Abrea Gaddis, Hannah Deffendall, Katilyn Clifford.

Your Varsity Bear baseball team defeated Union by a score of 4 to 1 last Friday night. Jay Davis pitched a complete game giving up just 2 hits. Devin Nott had a double and Braken Barga had a triple Jake Combs had two hits for the Bears. This week we have 6 games starting on Monday night at 5:00 here at MC against Muncie Southside if you haven’t seen your Bears play yet this week we play 5 games at home hope to see you there.

The jv baseball team played 4-1/2 good innings on Wednesday night up 8 to 6 in the middle of the 5^th against Delta, then the wheels fell off as we gave up 8 runs in the bottom of the 5 with 2 outs. This was the best we have hit the ball all year. I feel we are improving every game and that is what we are looking for is to get better for the varsity level. We ended up loosing 17-9.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Open Gym on Monday in THE HALL 7:45 – 9:00 p.m. for all girls basketball players not involved in a spring sport.

Last night the Varsity Baseball Bears played an MEC game against Randolph Southern here at the MC ball diamond. We won the game by a score of 14 to 3 in 5 innings. Jake Combs got the win on the mound Kyle Parkinson led the team in hits going 3 for 3. Tomorrow night we go to Union to play the Rockets.

TIME CHANGE:  Jr. High Baseball tryouts tonight from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the baseball diamond.  Please dress for the occasion.  Everyone MUST have a physical on file to tryout.

Results from the girls track meet last night at Muncie Central.  1st place winners Megen Yates in the long jump.  Betsy Lamb in the shot put and discus. 2nd place 4X1 team of McAllister, Hoening, Kelley & Thompson.  3rd place in the long jump and 100 meter dash was Darion Caldwell.  3rd in the mile and 4th in the 2 mile was Hailey Norris.  McAllister also got 3rd in the 100 hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles.  Mackenzie Norris received 4th in the 800.

Dance Guest Request Forms for Prom are due no  later than Friday, May 18.

The girls varsity track team lost a hard fought battle last evening at the conference track meet where they finished 2nd place out of 9 teams.  Megen Yates was medalist in the high jump.  Hailey Norris was champion 3,200 meter runner with sister McKenzie finishing on her heels.  Hailey also finished 3rd in the 1600 m.  Betsy Lamb finished 2nd in both the shot & discus.  Darion Caldwell finished 5th in 400 & long jump.  Congratulations team!

The GREENHOUSE is open to the public everyday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for you to purchase flowers & vegetable plants.  Come see the colorful display of floral & plant items the students have worked so hard on.

Tonight there is a  Monroe Central FFA chapter meeting at 7 pm in the ag room. Important banquet information will be given out and officer elections will be held. Pizza will be served. Hope to see you there.

Monroe Central Bears softball beat Liberty Christian 11-5.  Kedra Buckmaster got the win for the Bears allowing only 2 hits in her 6 innings of pitching.  The Bears were led in hitting by Katelind Phillips going 5 for 5 with 1-3B, 3-2B, 1-1B.  Kayla Bogue had 3 hits, Kristin Rodeffer,Haley Fields, and Buckmaster each had 2 hits.  The Bears play Thursday at home against Daleville.

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association will sponsor two sessions of the Sheriffs Youth Leadership Camp this summer.  The Youth Leadership Camp is a program provided by Indiana Sheriffs for boys and girls who are currently in the 7th or 8th grade and are interested in learning more about a possible career in law enforcement.  The camp provides a very meaningful experience and relationship with other campers from throughout the state and sheriff’s officers who serve as counselors and instructors.  Application available in Student Services.

The CANCER WALK is Friday, May 11 on the high school track.

The jv baseball team played their best game of the year Friday night at Winchester, only to fall 9 to 8. They scored 6 runs in the bottom of the six to tighten the game up, but left the tying run on 3^rd in the top of the 7^th.  They are back in action on Wednesday at Delta.
