Character Counts Awards Prizes

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Congratulations to all of those students who were chosen throughout the year to receive prizes for good behavior.

During monthly convocations throughout the 2009-2010 school year, students not referred to the office for the previous month were entered into a drawing for prizes including such things as gift cards, electronic equipment, and much more.  Last month’s winner, Dara Crabtree, was awarded an X-Box 360 bundle pack.  On June 8th a drawing was held for all students who had not been referred to the office for the entire year for any reason (attendance, tardies, discipline).  This drawing included over 250 individuals.  Congratulations to Joel Chalfant who was chosen as the recipient of a 32″ flat screen televsion.

Softball Regional Champions!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Monroe Central used no home runs, as a matter of fact, freshman left fielder, Kayla Bogue might have robbed a home run from Skylar Berger in the first inning, to defeat the “powerful” Cowan Blackhawks in the finals of the Monroe Central Regional.  Monroe Central stayed with their small ball game in moving runners and advancing one base at a time to defeat Cowan 3-0.  Monroe Central will advance to the Semi-State at Clinton Prairie for the first time in girls softball history.

Character Counts Program

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

character counts

At Monroe Central Jr. Sr. High School, high priority is placed on the character of our students.  This school year, the Character Counts initiative has been implemented.  This program includes many different aspects that help to educate students on important issues in their lives, inspire students to make positive choices, and to reward students who make Monroe Central Jr. Sr. High School a better place to be.

Thus far this school year, five convocations have been held with the student body.  Topics thus far have included:

  • Driver safety
  • Sexting
  • Bullying
  • Self Esteem and Self Worth

At each convocation, individuals who have not received a referral for the month are placed into a drawing for prizes.  Before Christams break, Dalton Oliphant was the recipient of an Ipod touch and Megan Yates won an Ipod Nano.  CONGRATULATIONS!

Convocations will continue to be held each month in order to help our students become the best individuals that they can be.
