The Monroe Central junior high cross country teams competed in the Greenville Invitational on Saturday. Both teams had their best finish ever in that meet.
The boys team had an impressive 2nd place team finish out 23 teams who provided very tough competition.
Carter Miller finished 3rd out of 236 runners. Caden Landis also had a strong 26th place finish, followed by Eli Chamberlain (34th), Tucker Burris (41st), Kyler Shumaker (44th), James Daniels (48th), and Gavan Duncan (62nd).
Also running well for the boys were Hayden Taylor (84th), Nathan Daniels (99th), Grant Rees (114th), Austin Swhier (131st), Gabe Rees (135th), Trystyn Thornburg (144th), Zayne Sampley (168th), Lane Dance (169th). Wyatt Burris (208th), Orrin Morris (212th), Jack Cooper (223rd), Jaxon Crawford (226th), Lane Anderson (229th), and Ryland Hendey (234th).
The girls team placed 11th of 17 teams.
Karly Puckett was the top finisher for MC in 31st place. Grace Baker was 34th, Katie Osborne was 64th, Addison Coe was 94th and Addy Puckett finished 97th to round out the top 5.
Other runners for the girls were Kelsie Gaddis (114th), Ariana Poe (115th), Alivia Arvin (158th), Lilly Garner (159th), Bella Budreau (176th), Sydney Patterson (182nd), Nadine Crawford (194th), Abby Norvell (197th), Kylie Pyle (203rd), Sophie Budreau (207th), and Kaylee Swift (213th).
Both teams will run at Selma Middle School on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
